Welcome to beautiful St. Solanus. In order to make your stay in our coastal California town more pleasant, please read the following travel brochure which answer the questions of who, what, where, when, why, and how. Thank you and we hope that you enjoy the show. (St. Solanus has been taped before a live studio audience.)

Who?

St. Solanus is a unique roleplaying opportunity which allows players to play any character from any genre or their own imagination or even a celebrity as long as it fits within the setting. It is fully cross franchise which means that players will find characters from shows like Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel interacting with characters from All My Children and One Life to Live interacting with characters from Absolutely Fabulous and Nip/Tuck interacting with original characters created just for this world interacting with high profile celebrities. Players can submit an application, explaining why their character is in St. Solanus, and are usually granted approval within minutes. An up to date list of roles that still need to be cast can be found at the bottom of the page for canon sources (under Casting Call). If you already know who you want and they aren’t taken, then you can go ahead and “Sign Your Contract”. However, we encourage every player to contact a member of the production team (under Contact Us) to discuss their character and any questions they might have. The production team will help player to get into a story without any struggling. They know the plots the best of anyone else. If you are wondering how many characters we have, please see the link under “Meet the Cast”

What?

All roleplaying takes place within an HTML based chat room. This chat room has several location icons to indicate where a character is during the course of play rather than having separate rooms. The chat room itself is fully customizable to the user. Player can turn off and on images, colors, backgrounds, banners. After submitting an application, a randomly generated password will be emailed to player along with the URL for their control panel. In the control panel, they can reset their password and set their preferences for the chat. To see the chat itself and perhaps lurk, the link is “The Show”.

Where?

The setting of our show is a fictional town in California’s Ventura County. The majority of the show takes place in key locations in the town such as Bliss (the local bar and grill), Starbucks, the local park, and homes of the residents. The sun, the surf, the beautiful people all help to make the show one of the top rated for its time slot. For more information and specifics about the show, please see the link below under “The Set”

When?

Players are encouraged to decide how far their character’s history will go. The only exception is for canceled series, which it is assumed that they will be taking place after the show has ended. However, players are free to discuss with the production team tweaking their character slightly from canceled shows to make the experience more enjoyable for everyone. The time is the present day and time moves relative to normal time. Though, because some players can only get on at certain times, the time of day within each roleplaying session may change. For example, a pair of friends playing in Starbucks during the day may be playing in the chat room at the same time another scene at night of Angel and Spike fighting a demon. It is up to the players involved to decide time of day. It is to be assumed however that Monday in the real world is abouts Monday in the chat room. (Exceptions made, naturally, for paused roleplaying or for events that occur on one day but might span out in the chat over several so that everyone can take part.)

Why?

Being cross-franchise in a fictional community allows for a wide variety of new and interesting story lines. The production team has found that this is a great way to take canceled shows and shows still on the air to play out different story arcs or what might have been. And like all great shows or movies, you always need those new and original characters in there. Rather than trying to play out things in fifty different groups for fifty different shows or genres, we have combined them all into one easy to find place where all characters can interact with each other. This also leaves it open for a variety of players to come together who may not have met before because they were playing in segregated groups.

How?

This is the trickiest one of all. How to roleplay here. A lot of players have never roleplayed within a chat room before. But the most important thing to remember is to check out the rules first. This is a handy little guide to tell you what we allow and what we don’t. The second is to explain the chat room itself. Again, below, under “Making the Magic”, should explain to anyone unfamiliar with it, exactly how to go about navigating your way through the room. Once again though, everyone is encouraged to contact the production team.

We hope you have enjoyed your visit to St. Solanus and we hope to see you again soon. As our motto says, “Grab a character and meet me in Bliss!”
